Description
In a manufacturing company, planning orders for materials, components, packaging or ingredients for production, usually done between 3 and 12 months in advance, is called operational purchasing. Given the budgets dedicated to sourcing in many manufacturing companies, operational purchasing is a building block of any manufacturing company’s profitability. Despite the abundance of new supply chain technologies, this hasn’t changed in 30 years. The current process makes for blind spots, hidden losses, and excessive CO2 consumption. GenLots transforms it through a combination of a new costing model and self-made reinforcement learning developed at ETH Zürich. We couple it with a powerful and visual interface to make it into the perfect material planner companion, generating immediate bottom-line benefits. We don't stop with order plans, and improve/maintain ERP parameters as well, like safety stocks. All in all, for clients like AB InBev or Merck, we decrease inbound deliveries up to 40% (significantly supporting sustainability objectives through the reduction of scope 3 emissions) and inbound inventory up to 20% - without altering total quantities ordered.
